Catching up with old events

Near the end of Labor Day weekend, a new island was towed to the center of Little Blake.

Several adults and a number of kids (some with their own little round islands) spent the afternoon there.

In the morning it was gone. Like Brigadoon?

This dragonfly appeared on one of the window screens. An unfamiliar species? Infected by a passing microbe? Or just a genetic error?

Last week there were a few signs of fall along the western shore. There are probably more by now, but I'm not there now.

While you were out

If you were away from the lakes on Thursday, you missed the power outage. Prepare to reset your clocks on your return.

Here's the co-op's explanation: "A tree fell on a 3-phase power line yesterday in areas hardest hit by last week’s storms, causing a power outage for about 1,000 co-op members on the west side of Bone Lake and south of Luck. The line went down about 5:30 p.m. and power was restored around 6:30 p.m. We apologize for any inconvenience to our members. If you see a danger tree on power lines, please report it to the co-op, 800-421-0283."

Elephants at Little Blake?

Mark posted this on FB, but I thought it deserved to be added here as well.

"Check out these beautiful elephant ears!! My neighbor Larry from the cabin proudly showing them off. Rain the past 3 weeks has everything looking great!"

New bird on the lakes?

Gary photographed this pelican on the west side of Big Blake on Saturday. It had flown by earlier. On Sunday, it was over on the east side of Little Blake.

Off course? Ailing? Lost? First time I've ever seen a pelican on the lakes Blake.
