Scavenger in chief
Forgot to tell you.
On the drive home from Lil Blake (somewhere south of Amery), we saw a bald eagle flying across the road ahead. (We always enjoy seeing these big birds.)
It landed on the shoulder opposite us, grabbed a dark brown thing of road kill (looked like it might have been a ratty, flat raccoon), and flew off into the fields.
I'll bet the eagle hadn't signed up to clean up that mile of highway. No matter. It's always good to see our national symbol working for the civic good.
(The picture is scavenged from the Internet. I did not take it while driving. I don't even answer the phone when I'm driving.)

Wonderful, wonderful
After a week of hiding in the air conditioning, it was wonderfully refreshing to get out of the car at the lake and walk out in the cool, fresh air of Polk County.
