Gallant lass to the rescue

I was rescued from my north country retreat by the gallant lass with whom I share a life. She arrived on Saturday last and we proceeded to relax and work at cleaning up and closing up Sidetrack.

Sunday morning offered up one more image of beauty.

I tucked away the little car under its tarp in the garage. Outdoor furniture went into the garage around the car. We gathered up most of the liquid stuff and turned off the fridge and waited for it to defrost and dry. We loaded stuff into the mini-mini van and reluctantly said goodbye to the treasure on Little Blake for another year.

Thursday at Sidetrack

I edited another chapter and another practice test. I need to send them off this morning.

Two juvenile bald eagles were playing in the air space over the front lawn and the shore line yesterday afternoon. I wondered if they were looking at the yellow mushrooms in the lawn. Then I wondered if there was a dead fish on the shoreline. After they were done swooping through the tree branches and down toward the edge of the lake, I went down and looked. No dead fish. It's hard to imagine that the mushrooms held any interest for the eagles. Maybe they were just playing with the tall weeds growing at the water line.

And when the sun went down, I noticed how far south the sun had gone. The sun was going down at the left edge of the picture. That "notch" in the tree line on the right side of the picture is where the sun was going down in July. Ah, fall.

You will notice that I removed the decking from the dock in preparation for hauling it ashore for the winter.

Wednesday at Sidetrack

It was a cool and windy day at Sidetrack.

But yesterday morning in Luck, there was this excitement. One of Cafe Wren's neighbors sat in a kitchen chair on his stoop to watch the activity. (The new pavement is great.)

October at Sidetrack

Arrived at Sidetrack yesterday about 4PM.

This was the most notable thing I could photograph. The eagle perched in a front yard tree, but flew away when I came around the corner of the house.
